Mexico City is a fascinating city that has many assets to seduce its visitors. This is one of the largest cities in the world, which includes more than 300 different neighborhoods.
If you visit Mexico for the first time, know that most tourist attractions are located in the historic center: The Plaza de la Constitución (Zócalo) / The imposing Metropolitan Cathedral / The National Palace and the Archaeological site of Templo Mayor in over a large number of museums located in beautiful colonial mansions.
Not far from the center there is Piazza Garibaldi where the real Mexico experience awaits you, between the smell of tequila and mariachi music.
Chapultepec Park, the largest green space in the city, is one of the major attractions for both tourists and residents. You can visit the Chapultepec Castle, the museum is interesting and offers stunning views to take pictures of the west of the villa, the Museum of Modern Art and the impressive Museum of Anthropology.
Mexico City is not only a cultural city, you will find a multitude of places "fancy" as the Zona Rosa, where restaurants and bars ambiance welcome you to the end of the night. If you prefer culture and a more bohemian atmosphere, Condesa, Roma, Coyoacan and San Angel, are tourist centers where you will find cozy coffees, historical places, best bookstores in the city, typical and interesting museums Markets in addition to restaurants and trendy clubs.
South of Mexico City, you will find Xochimilco, the main attraction, pond where you can browse quietly aboard boats called "trajineras". It also one of the most authentic of the Mexican capital markets. The walk from end to end is a common activity for people here but it is an unforgettable experience for visitors.
To taste a single dish, hard to find elsewhere in the capital. Please do not forget to make a stop at fruit stands, where you can ask to taste and choose the most juicy and sweet.
The ruins of Teotihuacan archaeological site are among the most remarkable in Mexico. Located about 50 km (30 miles) north of Mexico City makes an ideal day trip for history and anthropology buffs.
This ancient site is enveloped in mysteries that add to its intrigue and appeal. Experts do not know to what ethnic group the people of Teotihuacan belonged, nor what language they spoke. For this reason they are called Teotihuacanos. The name of the site, which means "place of the gods," comes from the Aztecs.
The principal road running through the centre of Teotihuacan, called the Avenue of the Dead, is almost a mile and a half long, and about 130 feet wide. Many buildings surround the Avenue of the Dead. The Pyramid of the Sun, Teotihuacan's most impressive structure towering more than 200 feet in height, presents a challenging but worthwhile climb. From the top you can appreciate the full extent of the site and the view is breathtaking.
Refuel at Las Piramides restaurant on the second floor by the main entrance to the site and enjoy the panoramic view.
Teotihuacan is one of Mexico's largest and most impressive archaeological site.
The Museo Nacional de Antropologia (The National Museum of Anthropology), Located within Chapultepec Park, contains one of the world’s largest collections of archaeological and anthropological artefacts from pre Hispanic Mayan civilizations to the Spanish conquest.
Not all of the explanations are translated in English so you may want to hire a guide or rent an English audio guide. The museum is closed on Mondays.
