How did they choose the right surgeon?
Plastic Surgery Reviews can be very usefull when choosing a plastic surgeon in Mexico, in the USA or in Canada. However there are other things important to check when choosing the right plastic surgeon to perform your procedure. As you take the initial steps in finding the perfect plastic surgeons, it can get overwhelming; between board certifications, offered procedures, location, years of experience and more, there are so many variables that you may be tempted to just run to the phonebook.
But don’t fret! Here are our selection of the most important things to keep in mind as you’re trying to find a potential plastic surgeon:
N°1. Check certifications and memberships of your future surgeons
Just like any other physician, you want to make sure that your plastic surgeon is qualified. A great way to determine qualifications is to see which boards, organizations, and groups have certified or accepted the surgeon for membership. For example, at TopPlasticSurgeonsMexico we only work with plastic surgeons certified by the Mexican and / or American Board of Plastic Surgery, and active members of the Mexican Socierty of Plastic Surgeons. These qualifications are the most important since they indicate the level of experience, ethical record, and successfully completed education that should be your bare minimum requirement.
N°2. Check their specialty
Some plastic surgeons might have more experience with body procedures, while others are more involved with facial procedures. When researching your ideal plastic surgeon, see what sorts of procedures they perform, and during a consultation, inquire as to how long they’ve been performing them. N°3. Make sure your plastic surgeon ethic
While many plastic surgery procedures have important medical benefits— a breast reduction procedure can alleviate chronic back pain, liposuction in conjunction with diet/exercise can lower risk of cardiovascular disease, etc.—certain procedures are more aesthetically oriented. However, an ethical surgeon won’t encourage unnecessary extra procedures—they’ll tell you if you don’t need a facelift or rhinoplasty.

In many cases, disgruntled ex-employees, competitors or online e-reputation management companies looking for business, may be the ones leave a negative review online. These review websites charge plastic surgeons for greater visibility or heavy amounts of money to remove a comment / online review. The movie "Billion Dollar Bully” in 2019 shows the darker side of how Yelp and other review websites operate.
In case of positive reviews - If a surgeon has a lot of reviews - many of them are posted by a plastic surgeon's staff or family.
Should you believe online reviews of doctors?
Less than 1,5% of people do rate or review their physicians on the Internet, so if you rely on these ratings you will have no information on the quality of care received by over 98,5% of patients.
